As soon as I saw the new L’Oréal Extraordinary Clay range, I got a little bit excited. I don’t wash my hair every day, at the most I can eek it out three days without washing my hair, but I live by dry shampoo in-between.
When I saw this range come out, it was the Clay Masque I was most intrigued by, silly marketing campaign aside (I am confident every person with hair has suffered from oily roots and dry ends) I love a hair mask, and I also love a fast mask with clay in it so this was right up my street. Like with my post on Lush’s Ultrabland prepare for some step by step photos:
The Masque had an almost soufflé texture which I wasn’t expecting, in my mind I was prepared for something more clay-ey. You apply it to your roots and massage thr product across your scalp and leave it for five minutes before washing it out and starting your normal hair wash routine.
As you can see from the pictures this product stained my finger tips immediately after use, and no amount of soap and water could remove it. It’s strange as I have used this product three times and this is the first time I’ve experienced staining. It came off the next morning, and it’d not to noticeable a stain at first.
The product has a lovely scent, and according to my sister I look like I have mermaid hair (life goals!). But the big question is, did it make a difference?
Not really, no. I still need dry shampoo to perk up my fringe on day two and three, and my roots seem no less oily. Im going to give this product a couple more trys then pass it over to my sister to see if she has any luck. One major benefit of this product for me is the extra time it takes before I wash my hair, it makes the experience much more indulgent, and I love a head massage. Ultimately I don’t think I’ll be repurchasing this product, though I will give it a couple more trys.
Have you tried this product, did it work for you? Or do you have another recommendation for keeping a fringe happy?
I have always been a big fan of H&M, such better quality compared to primark and not that much more expensive. So when you have some spare cash and you see some discounts H&M is a good bet. So here’s what I got.
This is a patterned racer back vest and was only about £3.99. It is a little see through, but nothing a good black bra won’t fix. Perfect for work or play.
Next is a black and white striped, jersey, long sleeved top for only £7.99. Again it’s a little see through but a black vest will fix that and it is so soft you can’t complain.
Next is a blue and white (it’s a dark navy but trust me it’s blue) polo shirt from the conscious range. Its 100% organic cotton and for some reason I’ve been wanting a polo shirt for a while.
Next is the same as the black and white striped top but in a zig zag pattern.
The last thing is a very light sky blue shirt. Perfect for summer work wear and a bargain at only £10 in the sale.
So that’s what I got myself. Thanks to discounts it was all only £35…yay! I will say with H&M that I always size up as the sizes tend to run small, other than that I live everything.
Imagine combining Braveheart with Back To The Future, wrap it up in a very strong female lead and you have my latest addiction: Outlander.
Claire Randal is in the Scottish Highlands with her husband Frank on thier “second honeymoon”. Over the last five years of thier marriage they have been supporting thier country with the war effort, and seen each other fewer than 10 days. Whilst working on reconnecting with each other, they visit a circle of ancient standing stones. Claire decides to revisit the stand stones alone, and finds herself transported back to 1743 with the Scottish Highlanders and English Army vying for power.
It’s difficult to put into words why I’ve fallen in love with this show: it’s addictive, well written, incredibly sexy and full of cliff hangers. I opted for this show off the back of a short review in this month’s Glamour magazine, where they alluded to the shows feminist themes.
It’ll be interesting to see what other people think of it, around episode 10 it seemed to slow up somewhat. I think i watched 1-8 in around four days and now it’s about a fortnight since I picked up the show and I’m part way through episode 13. Heres hoping that after writing this I dint come out hating the show!
It’s currently on Amazon Prime Video, part of the reason this appealed to me was the ability to download an episode and watch it whilst on my commute home. When I’m not addicted to a book I can dip in an out of the seris easily without worrying about rinsing my data plan! Especially as the second seris will be on the site soon.
I love Claire and Jamie (an embarrassing confession but Sam Heughan much closer to how I picture Christian Grey than Jamie Dornan). I dare you to make your way though the seris without hating Laoghaire…
Does the show appeal to you? If you watch it please let me know!! What would you recommend? I use both Netflix and Amazon so any recommendations appreciated!
Note: Just finished episode 13, completely obsessed again!!
A great eye look will always perk up your life, we all know that. And a good eyeshadow palette makes life so much easier. But being a make up hoarder you can never just have one palette, that is never enough. As you grow so does your collection and this is mine.
Let’s start how we online shop…cheapest first.
This MUA palette was around £8 and it’s years old but I’m sure they do something similar. MUA is exclusive to superdrug and despite the low price point the quality is pretty darn good. This would be a great start for someone who is just getting into eyeshadow because it has a great range of neutrals.
With 3 mattes and the rest are sparkles you can make a great eye look with just this palette.
Yeah so the name is rubbed off mine but this is the L’Oreal La Palette Nude. We all that L’Oreal make great quality products and their eyeshadows have great pay off.
Although this is a nude palette it has some great transition colours for more colourful looks.
This might be my favourite palette. The Urban Decay Naked Basics palette is so perfect for travel and great for an understated neutral look.
It has everything you could possibly need if you were strapped for space when packing for a holiday.
My last eyeshadow palette is the Urban Decay Naked 2 palette, don’t ask me why I don’t have any of the others. Really good quality, great colour pay off and not a bad price point for the amount of colours you get.
I love how they’re neutrals but a bit more than the usual browns. The purples and greys can really help make a multitude of looks. As much as I love my mattes, I always find myself using the metallics because they give such a pretty shimmer to the eyes.
So that’s my little collection, hopefully it’ll grow in the coming years. I’d love to know your favourite palettes and any recommendations for me.
As I’m now nearer to thirty than twenty (eeep) I’ve started paying more attention to skin care, especially this year with so many fellow beauty enthusiasts being part of my life. I have three cleansers I switch between depending on my mood.
When I look for a cleaner I want something that will eat through my makeup or just a days grime if I’m sans makeup, will remove eye and face makeup without stinging, and that isn’t drying. Making me a little fussy, but I like uncomplicated routines.
One of my favourites is this, Ultrabland by Lush. This is a creamy clarifying cleanser that feels like a real treat on the skin.
You rub the product into your skin, being very gentle around your eye area. I normally leave it to sit for a few minutes and then using a couple cotton rounds ran under some very warm water I remove the cleanser. I start on my eyes, move over my skin and onto my lips. Two cotton pads tends to be the perfect amount.
It leaves me with very soft, clean feeling skin with a slight glow. I tend to use this at the end of my day, in the morning I’m a micellar water girl. Often I’ll follow this with a moisturising mask or just my regular skin care routine. I love this product, and once I get to the end of it I will be repurchasing.
A special thank you to the lovely Ali In the Plymouth Lush, who spent thirty minutes talking cleansers, toners, steaming tabs, moisturises masks and all sorts of amazing skin care bits before sending me off with a sample of this piece of perfection (along with a bag of bathbombs and other exciting purchases).
If your in the mood to read more on skin care, Sally wrote a post in January on her skincare routine.
If your anything like me, if you have 30 minutes to get ready you will spend the majority of that time procrastinating (read: texting/Netflix/youtube).
This is how I make myself look presentable in under five minutes. This was at the end of the day when I’d worn makeup to work and was popping to the pub to catch up with a friend.
After running a brush throwing my hair I grabbed these three products: a makeup sponge, a lipliner and a bright lipstick.
After wetting the Makeup sponge I tapped it across my face to blend whatever bade I had left. This evened out my skintone nicely. This one is from a Glossybox and so far I’m preferring it to my Real Techniques makeup sponge.
I then grabbed my Autograph Universal Lip liner, this is an interesting product ad it doesn’t have a colour pay off, meaning it helps keep your lip colour in place, regardless of the colour. Little tip with this one, apply with a gentle hand. It snaps really easily
I finished with MAC Pickled Plum, first I dabbed this onto my lips to stain them, then I applied straight from the bullet with two layers dabbing off the excess in between.
The lipstick is the main feature of this look, and it’s a really fun impactful colour (if that’s even a word). If I’d had a couple more layers I would have applied a touch of concealer to my cheeks and chin, and a brightening concealer under my eyes but I was really happy with how it turned out.
What do you so when you have a very short period of time to get ready?
As bras go they may not be the prettiest or most comfortable but I would argue they are one of the most important. When I’m killing it on the cross trainer I would like my ladies to stay where they are and not take my eye out. Now I haven’t got the biggest bust but I’m a D cup and I can find excersise hard on my bust. But not anymore.
I have tried a fair few sports bras in my time. When I was first starting out I went to primark…colossal mistake for us bigger boobed gals (sure it great if you’re smaller busted). Then I tried Matalan, which was good for a while and a great price point. I’ve also tried H&M and actual sports brand from Sports Direct but I found the holy grail at none other than Marks and Spencer.
I have been buying my bras at Marks and Spencer since my first bra fitting aged 11 (I was an early bloomer). And on a trip to get something new for everyday I saw they had a new range out and my draw nearly dropped when I saw they did EXTRA HIGH IMPACT. its what I had always needed. So I got home looked online and found this beauty and instantly ordered two.
The first thing that drew me to it was the extra high impact and then it was how pretty it was. Not that people were going to see it but I liked the idea of a nice looking bra for the gym. It isn’t super cheap at £16 but it is such great quality. The girls do not move at all. And it’s pretty darn comfortable.
Let me know if you have any sports bras you swear by or sportswear in general.
